What should VPrep families expect at Georgia Virtual Scholars Academy?
GVSA is designed to provide VPrep students with a familiar educational experience. Students will experience the same instructional approach, curriculum, virtual learning environment, and focus on academic and student support that families have been preparing for. Our goal is to minimize disruption.
Will VPrep teachers work with students at GVSA?
Yes. Georgia Virtual Scholars Academy students are served by VPrep teachers.
Do I need to withdraw from VPrep or complete a new enrollment?
No. VPrep families receive an email with a simple, one-step process to officially enroll in Georgia Virtual Scholars Academy. Questions can go to [PLACEHOLDER EMAIL].
When is the first day of school?
Wednesday, September 2. First-day schedules and expectations are shared with families the day before.
Tuition & the Georgia Promise Scholarship
Will families have to pay tuition?
As a private school, Georgia Virtual Scholars Academy charges tuition. However, we work with VPrep families who enroll for the fall semester to ensure tuition is covered through a combination of scholarships and financial aid.
Does applying for the Georgia Promise Scholarship enroll my student at GVSA?
No. Applying does not enroll your student and does not obligate your family. Families with an approved Promise Scholarship may choose to apply scholarship funds to online courses at GVSA — and the team helps you complete the steps to use those funds.
How do I apply for the Promise Scholarship?
Through the official family application portal: gapromise-families.withodyssey.com. The program is explained in a short read: the Family Handbook (PDF), available in English and Spanish.
How do I know whether my student is eligible?
The application verifies four things: the student is zoned for one of the 506 eligible public schools (the portal checks this); the student has been enrolled in a Georgia public school for two consecutive semesters, or is a rising kindergartner; the family has lived in Georgia for at least one year (with active-duty military exceptions); and the student is not receiving the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship or another SSO-administered state scholarship. Returning students, siblings, and families below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (roughly $132,000 for a family of four) receive priority.
How long does scholarship approval take?
Eligibility status is verified instantly when you complete the short application. Final scholarship approval from Odyssey, the program administrator, may take up to seven days — and that timeline will not prevent your scholar from starting school. The team works with families while processing is completed.
What if my student is not eligible for the Promise Scholarship?
Contact us at promise@accelschools.com. We do not want scholarship eligibility to stop any family — the team will work with you on other scholarship and financial-aid options so your scholar can attend at no cost for the fall semester.
The school
Which grades do you serve?
Kindergarten through twelfth grade, organized as elementary (K–5), middle school (6–8) and high school (9–12).
Are there live classes? Will my child see other children?
Yes. Teachers lead live class sessions where scholars see and work with classmates, plus breakout sessions for small-group and one-on-one support. Every live session is recorded, so scholars can rewatch a lesson any time.
Can scholars work at their own pace?
Within structure, yes. Live lessons follow a consistent schedule, and independent assignments have set due dates — but scholars choose when to do that work, and pacing adjusts to the individual.
Does the school supply a computer and course materials?
Most course materials are provided digitally through the learning platform. Families need a computer that meets minimum system requirements. [PLACEHOLDER — device/loaner policy]
What supplies do we need for the start of school?
A designated workspace, working equipment and internet, plus a pen or pencil and a notebook. Teachers will let you know if a course needs anything else.
My scholar has an IEP or 504 plan. What support is there?

When do we receive login credentials?
